INTERNSHIPS

WHY JOIN WSORC?

Follow the links below to find out more about the internship programs we offer:

The Whale Shark and Oceanic Research Center is proud to offer study-abroad style internship opportunities for budding conservationists interested in furthering careers in marine conservation. Our internship programs are college-accredited at many colleges and universities around the world, and the experience may also serve as work placement for certain qualified applicants.

Our aim at WSORC is to teach and inspire our interns about the rewarding field of marine conservation. Don’t take our word for it… check out these testimonials from past WSORC interns for a better idea of what you can expect to gain from your internship:

I loved how much I learned while at WSORC. I know so much about marine life now and it only makes diving more fun. The fact that I learned (& still know) as many fish, coral, etc. as I do is actually insane… I think studied harder for my coral test than for the majority of my college finals.

The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and dedicated. They really went the extra mile to make sure we had a great experience and learned as absolutely much as we could, as well as get all our needs met.

My favourite parts were definitely learning about the ecology on the reef and being able to draw my own links between species diversity and abundance through things I have learnt at university. This program allowed me to apply my knowledge to the real world and gain some practical experience in the field of marine biology.

As a future educator – I plan to take all of the knowledge and skills I learned at WSORC and transfer it back into the classroom. I want to help my students (even the ones who don’t live near the ocean) see that they can have an impact on the environment in a positive as well as in a negative way! WSORC has opened up my eyes to the underwater world and I could not be thankful enough. The whole experience was so overwhelmingly amazing!
