DirectionsUtila is a small island and we are not hard to find, we're one of the Bay Islands, 16 miles off the coast of Honduras, the nearest airport is La Ceiba and the closest international hub is in San Pedro Sula. All contact information for airlines, buses and hotels is on the bottom of the page. Directions once you're here: Stepping off the ferry, walk down the ramp and turn left onto the main road. Walk 3 minutes down the road until you see our building on the left. We are located directly behind the fire station. If you arrive by plane give your taxi driver your destination of "Utila Lodge". In which case, you will be dropped off directly in front of the fire station. The primary landing spot for people on their way to Utila is San Pedro Sula International Airport (airport code SAP). It is located on the mainland and serviced by Taca, American and Continental Airlines from Miami, Houston, New Orleans, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. I suggest an early flight so you can get as far as La Ceiba on your first day, if not all the way to Utila. The next step in your journey is from San Pedro Sula to Goloson Airport (airport code LCE) in the mainland port city of La Ceiba. You can get there with Islena Airlines, Aerolinas, Sosa and Atlantic Airlines. You may also choose to bus it to La Ceiba. Hedman Alas has service from San Pedro Sula to downtown La Ceiba if you can get the 10:30am bus (in fact the bus to La Ceiba leaves at 2:45pm from San Pedro Sula, so if you miss the 10:30am airport bus you can take a $20 cab ride from the airport to the Hedman Alas Bus Station in Downtown San Pedro Sula). You will arrive in La Ceiba at 6pm, too late for the ferry, but hotels are much cheaper than in San Pedro Sula. Final leg of the journey! It is possible to fly into Utila with Sosa and Atlantic. So if you have flown into San Pedro Sula, then to LCE and you arrive before the only flight of the day leaves, at 3:30 pm, you may be able to purchase a ticket right at the airport, to my knowledge you cannot prebuy these flights as the flight does not always go. What most people coming to Utila do is take the ferry, the Utila Princess. It leaves twice daily for Utila from the Muelle de Cabotaje at 9:30am and 4:00pm. It costs around $25 and takes about 1 hour. A taxi ride to the ferry terminal takes ten minutes and costs around $8. The Princess takes you to the inner harbor of Utila and if you let us know when to expect you, we will meet you there! If you aren't sure when you will be arriving, when getting off the ferry, collect your baggage, and head down the ferry dock, take your first left and walk for about 5 minutes.
